This past weekend was filled with two important events which made me realize today that I should have taken off from work instead of calling in sick (since I started getting sick last week anyway). Nonetheless, I will share with you what I wore for Saturday's event which was a celebration for my husband's uncle's 40th wedding anniversary. They are by far the cutest couple and the nicest and I am not just saying it because I'm writing this publicly. I really mean it! When I married my husband, I remember being terrified of how his family and his relatives would receive me. As the saying goes, "when you marry someone, you marry their family". This is very true in the Hmong culture so when I chose to get married, I was basically choosing to be judged by his relatives. I remember coming back to his parent's house after the wedding feast at my parent's house and none of his relatives spoke to me except for uncle and auntie here. She came up to me and asked me how I was feeling, asked me if I was hungry, and asked me about my family. She really made me feel welcomed. To this day, I still remember her grace and her kindness for me when I felt most terrified. I wish them many more years of love and happiness together.
